Autocad Import Points From Csv
Archived
Hello AutoCad, I'm new to Reddit and to CAD, and I have a quick question. I am an environmental summer student, working in a coal mine. At work I was tasked with surveying a pond, which I did using a trimble. The trimble gave me a .csv file with the names, coordinates, and elevation of all the points in separate columns. Is there a way to import these points into a CAD drawing of the pond with the elevations displayed on the drawing? The CAD software at work is AutoCad 2010. If there is anyone who can help me, I would be extremely grateful.
As shown in this pic below, we have X, Y, Z coordinates, otherwise Easting, Northing & Reduced levels of more than 10000 points in an Excel sheet. To create points using this data (to Export this data into an AutoCAD drawing), we have to convert this data into the language that AutoCAD can understand. Now we can import these points pretty easily in AutoCAD using SCRIPT command. Type SCRIPT then press Enter key in your AutoCAD command bar and then locate the scr file you created in the example above and click on Open button.
